Rok Lacko joined GEN-I as a Senior Business Developer responsible for demand response services and research project management in 2016. Rok leads the Business Development office, which currently counts 6 employees. He received his Engineering Diploma from the hydrogen energy storage test laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana in 2012. As a young researcher, he joined the company Inea d.o.o. where he explored the integration of hydrogen technologies for utilization of distributed renewable energy sources, which culminated in defending his PhD thesis in 2015 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. He has a proven track record of successful implementation of the virtual power plant that integrates more than 100 dispersed controllable units from the commercial and industrial sectors of four different EU countries within a single real-time operating energy system. His responsibilities include also management of research and innovation projects, such as the Horizon 2020 project Designing eTrading Solutions for Electricity Balancing and Redispatching in Europe (short: FutureFlow) and Slovene nationally funded Active consumer.
